Few wildlife encounters compare to mountain gorilla trekking. Deep in the forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, visitors are invited into a world where gorillas move freely, young ones play, and the silverbacks command respect.

For 2026, the Uganda Wildlife Authority has introduced a special promotion to make this experience more accessible. Gorilla permits for Foreign Non-Residents are reduced to $600 during April, May, and November, down from the standard $800.
The green season may be less crowded, but it offers unique advantages. Trails are quieter, forests are lush and vibrant, and gorillas tend to remain closer due to abundant food. Photographers and nature lovers will find dramatic mist, richer colors, and softer lighting that transforms every moment into a memory.

A gorilla trek begins with a briefing and guided entry into the forest. Groups are small, and trackers lead the way through dense vegetation, interpreting signs of gorilla activity. Then comes the moment every visitor waits for: a gorilla family emerges, a silverback observes calmly, and young gorillas play nearby. For one hour, you are allowed into their world. It is an intimate, authentic, and unforgettable experience.
Booking these discounted permits requires careful planning. Permits are non-refundable, cannot be rescheduled, and full payment is required immediately. Availability is limited, and once permits are gone, the opportunity is gone.

Outside these months, permits remain available year-round at $800 per person. Either way, the encounter itself does not change, only the timing and price.
Many travelers combine gorilla trekking with additional experiences for a full Uganda adventure:
- Relaxing at Lake Bunyonyi
- Wildlife safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park
- Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park
Panther Adventures crafts each itinerary to suit your pace, style, and budget, whether you prefer luxury, midrange, or adventure-focused travel.
